HOYD and Macmillan Project
Supporting Islington residents affected by cancer
Addressing health inequalities and improving access to health and wellbeing services is a key priority for HOYD. Engaging residents in conversations about their long-term health has become embedded in Hoyd's services. This includes referral to our (150+ strong) network of local partners - many of whom have supportive services for these residents affected by Cancer.
HOYD has now set up a working group of Islington –based organisations who work with residents affected by cancer - building on the work we are all doing to increase local support. This Working Group:
• Has begun mapping how Islington VCS is supporting residents living with cancer
• Provides feedback from the project's findings to date f
• Aims to increase joint working by the VCS with the NHS and statutory sectors
• Aims to identify any gaps in support in Islington we could collectively address, for example access to 1:1 counselling.
• Supports activities and events to upskill the VCS in Islington to work with residents affected by Cancer
