Don Kehoe headshot

Don Kehoe

Don Kehoe is our Chair. He lives and works in Islington and has runs a specialist IT software consultancy. He is a chartered engineer, secretary of London Capital Credit Union, and he is on the executive committee for London and South England credit unions that are members of ABCUL.
He believes every area needs a Help on Your Doorstep and that the pioneering and award winning EC1 Connect continues to make a huge difference in his neighbourhood. Trusted people supporting, connecting and empowering their neighbours across Islington is key to the organisation’s success. He is keen to support Help on Your Doorstep develop as an organisation and continue to deliver community building services like the Good Neighbours Scheme.

Colin Adams MBE

Colin Adams MBE has worked in the area of Equality and Diversity for a number of years. He worked as a team leader in the Equality & Diversity team for the Department for Children, Schools and Families. He has worked in a number of different government departments for over 25 years, including the European Social Fund; the Small Business Advisory Service and Private Office for the Secretary of State for Employment at the time.

He is currently the Director of Hanley Crouch Community Association, a community hub in North Islington. He is also the chair of the Octopus Community Network and the Hate Crime Forum.

Nicola Steuer

Nicola Steuer joined Help on Your Doorstep as a trustee in 2017. Nicola has worked to improve social, economic and environmental outcomes for over 25 years, including four years in Islington as Programme Director at Cripplegate Foundation and Islington Giving.

Nicola currently works as Deputy Chief Executive at Power to Change, the think-do tank that backs community business. She has held previous roles as Director of Practice at New Local, Managing Director at the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), Programme Director and Head of the Centre for Wellbeing at New Economics Foundation (NEF), and Deputy Director at Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) .

Enabling communities to have greater agency and control over the areas in which they live and the services they use has been a consistent feature of Nicola’s work, including as a trustee of Help on Your Doorstep.

Sorrel Brookes

Sorrel Brookes worked in Housing and Regeneration for 30 years in Manchester, Edinburgh and London, leading large scale urban regeneration projects and most recently, led for Homes for Haringey on Business Improvement. she spent 10 years as a non executive on various local health boards. She has lived in Islington with her family since 1995 and is currently a lay board member of Islington GP Federation and volunteers as an adviser at Islington Citizens’ Advice. She joined the Board of Help on Your Doorstep in 2017.

Stephen Lawson headshot

Stephen Lawson

Stephen is a long-standing local resident with deep roots in the Islington community. Until recently, he was Head Brewer at Volden Brewing Ltd, where he led all aspects of production and team management. Stephen has a long history with Help on Your Doorstep (HOYD), having been instrumental in the charity’s early development as Operations Manager and in leading the EC1 Connect regeneration project from which HOYD was founded. He also successfully oversaw the service’s expansion into new areas, including Finsbury Park and Canonbury.

Earlier in his career at Renaisi, Stephen managed projects aimed at improving access to public services for under-represented residents, deepening his expertise in community outreach, partnership working, and addressing inequality.

A passionate advocate for equal opportunities, transparency, and multi-agency collaboration, Stephen brings over seven years of experience in community engagement alongside trustee experience, strategic thinking, and operational insight. He remains deeply committed to supporting HOYD’s mission to improve the lives of local residents.

Tom Ferrie Head shot

Tom Ferrie

Tom Ferrie joined Help on Your Doorstep as a trustee in 2024. With over 18 years of experience supporting vulnerable people, he is currently the Project Lead at Islington Council for a Rough Sleeping Prevention Project. His career spans outreach, supported housing, and service management for individuals with complex needs, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, and domestic abuse.

Previously, he served as Head of Support Services at Causeway Irish Housing Association, overseeing multiple supported housing projects in North London. He is an experienced Safeguarding Lead with in-depth knowledge of homeless prevention.

Tom is passionate about community wellbeing, inclusion, and collaborative working—values that align closely with Help on Your Doorstep’s mission in Islington.

Vicky Morgan Headshot

Vicky Morgan

Vicky Morgan joined Help on Your Doorstep as a trustee in 2025. She is a Islington resident and has always lived in the borough. Vicky has worked in the social sector for over 20 years leading cross cutting partnerships and programmes that improve lives of vulnerable people with a specific focus on employment and training.

She is currently Head of Young and Young Adult Carers at Carers Trust leading programmes to improve outcomes and life chances for young people caring for a loved one who cannot cope without their support.

Previous roles include as Director of Programmes and Partnerships at Circle Collective, Interim Director at Art Against Knives and Co- Ceo at Communities into Training and Employment.

Vicky is passionate about unlocking the potential in communities, strengthening connections between residents and local service to improve wellbeing and lives. She believes the role of Help on Your Doorstep is a vital one.
