Would you like to gain experience of being a charity Trustee? Use your existing skills and gain news ones, including gaining experience of strategic leadership and governance. Our experienced trustees are looking for new people to join our Board.

This is an exciting time to join us as a trustee, as we move out of the COVID-19 pandemic. The needs of Islington residents have been deeply affected by the pandemic and we need to ensure that our services remain responsive. The funding landscape is also shifting due to new priorities set by some of our key funders, including Islington Council. We are looking for trustees who can help us continue to work with and for Islington residents, taking on the challenges of the future and making sure that we can remain effectively responsive to current needs.

Our work is carried out by our committed team of 22 staff and 40 volunteers, supported by our Board of Trustees. We currently have 7 trustees. We are seeking to expand our Board through the appointment of up to 4 new trustees with a diversity of skills, experiences and background. Our trustees are volunteers and therefore unpaid, those reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.

We are particularly keen to appoint trustees with experience in one or more of the following areas

  • Fundraising
  • Charity law and/or governance
  • Change management
  • Human Resources including equality and inclusion
  • Digital/ ICT strategy
  • Knowledge of Islington’s statutory or voluntary sector
  • Lived experience of being empowered/ improving your life with support from local services

We are also particularly interested in applications from Islington residents. People from Black and Minority Ethnic groups, disabled people and adults aged between 18-45 are currently under-represented on our Board. We are keen to recruit trustees from these backgrounds and would encourage suitably qualified applicants to apply.

There will be a full induction and support given to new trustees so previous experience of being a charity trustee is not essential to the role.

We are now closed for applications.

We also have other voluntary roles currently open to applications, including befrienders, re-connectors and delivery volunteers. Please see our Volunteer for us page for more information.
