Our Good Neighbours Schemes activities in Bemerton, Kings Cross and New River Green will be on break for Christmas from Friday 14 December 2018 and will resume in the week beginning Monday 7 January 2019. Please find our more about our regular activities here.

Our local offices in Archway, Bemerton, Caledonian, Canonbury, EC1 and Finsbury Park will close on Friday 21 December 2018 and re-open on Monday 7 January 2019. Please note that all of our local offices are open to visitors subject to staff availability. Services available during the Christmas period

We have put together a list of useful contacts in case you need help and support over the festive period.

  • Islington Council's contact page includes a list of opening hours for their services over Christmas, including their customer contact centre, libraries, parks and sports facilities.
  • The Samaritans are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a week.
  • Citizens Advice offer advice online and via their national Adviceline. Open Mondays - Fridays, but are closed on bank holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day).
  • Free food and meals - Food Cycle serve free meals in N1 on Wednesdays (closed Weds 26 Dec) and Finsbury Park on Saturdays (closed Sat 29 Dec). Here is a list of other possible sources of free food, but please note that we did not compile this list and have not checked it for accuracy.
  • Shelter provide housing advice online, in person and by phone. Their urgent phone line is open 365 days a year.
  • Rough sleeping - If the weather gets cold (below 0 degrees centigrade) and you are concerned about someone sleeping rough in Islington you can email the Severe Weather Emergency provision team on [email protected] or call them out of hours (between 6pm and 9pm) on 020 75272000.
  • Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247 is open 24 hours a day.
  • NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 is open 24 hours a day.
  • Police non emergency telephone number is 101.
  • NHS 111 is the free number to call when you have an urgent healthcare need.
